A Spiritual Blog by a Decidedly Spiritually Challenged Writer

Greetings, or should I say namaste, blessings, peace. Welcome to my latest blog, Serenity NOW. I also write a humor column for boomer women (and anyone else!) titled The Spring Chicken. Hope you'll drop by. I've decided to explore the world of spirituality in my search for serenity NOW. I don't want serenity LATER. I want it right now, this minute, the way George Costanza's father wanted it on Seinfeld.
To that end I have my latest quilt of self-help and guru books neatly arranged across my bed. I sleep with them each night (most are paperbacks, so not too heavy) and pick up one here, another there, in my quest to open the doors to my own spiritual fulfillment. I don't get much sleep this way, but in our post-Rem, Ambien-saturated world I don't get much sleep anyway.
I'll be sharing insights from some of those books along with some of my major obstacles to serenity and my personally painful spiritual gaffes along the way. I hope you'll find some humor in this blog but also some helpful insights along your own path, for I do believe that an unexamined life may be worth living after all; at least that is what the Dalai Lama has told us. Happiness and serenity, peace of mind... clear the decks and detach, let the clouds of tormenting thought roll by. Is there a way that a Baby Boom Valley Girl (which also makes me a California Girl) who attended college at the epicenter of the '60s turmoil in Berkeley and has spent her so-called adult life steeped in the three W's

a)waiting

b)whining
and

c)worrying

can now find peace and contentment as she contemplates not just her navel, but her rapidly advancing senior moments?
Stay tuned.
